USA (SunstarTV Bureau): US welcomes its first lady Jill Biden after making the case for Joe Biden as the 45th President-elect. Joe has lauded Jill’s qualities as a potential first lady on many public forums.
Mrs. Biden, 69, has spent decades working as a teacher and a professor of English at Northern Virginia Community College. Jill is cleped as the ‘First Professor FLOTUS (first lady of the United States)’.
“Most American women have both a work life and a family life, but first ladies have never been allowed to do so,” said Katherine Jellison, a history professor at Ohio University. Maybe the time has come, however, when more Americans will feel comfortable with a first lady who isn’t on-call at the White House 24/7,” added Katherine.
US President, Biden said, “For all of you out there across the country, just think of your favorite educator who gave you the confidence to believe in yourself. That’s the kind of first lady Jill Biden will be.”
Jill Jacobs, who was born in 1951 and grew up in the suburbs of Philadelphia, Previously held the title of Second Lady while her husband served as vice-president from 2009 to 2017.During this period, her work included promoting community colleges, advocating for military families and raising awareness about breast cancer prevention.
She also launched the Joining Forces initiative with First Lady Michelle Obama that included helping military veterans and their families’ access education program and employment resources.
In 2012, she published a children’s book called ‘Don’t Forget’, ‘God Bless Our Troops’ based on her granddaughter’s experience of being in a military family.
She has been a prominent supporter of her husband during the 2020 campaign, appearing alongside him and holding events and fundraisers.
As the first lady, she is expected to work on education issues and relaunch Joining Forces, a mission to rally around military families that she and Michelle Obama started in 2011.
Jill aspires not to be ‘just the first lady’ but to keep her identity as an individual intact.
