SunstarTV Bureau: Cotton prices continue to rise and the noted price have been rising steadily since last year. Now the effect is also beginning to fall upon the garment manufacturers.
Reportedly, the manufacturer has struggled with rising cotton prices and has finally decided to increase product prices.
Ready-made garments will become more expensive in India after the decision of the garment manufacturer. Brands like Indian Terrain and Raymond Yuko Denim will be more expensive. Many lingerie brands have increased their prices. Shekhar Tiwari, CEO of underwear brand Annamore, said his company has increased underwear prices after viewing of the rise in cotton and thread prices.
Demand for this specialty has grown significantly as a result of recent corporate scandals. So the rapid rise in cotton prices has affected their business. But now the demand for clothing seems to have improved in the festive season. Clothing manufacturers are saying they are no longer in a position to suffer losses, the only solution is to increase the cost of ready-made clothing.
“So far, we have been able to control the price by buying threads and yarn at our own level, and our stock is ready for the next 3-4 months,” said Bidyut Rajgopal, Managing Director, Indian Terrain. “If the prices don’t go down in the next six months, it will be unbearable for them and they will consider raising the price”.
Denim maker Raymond Yuko Denim, which supplies denim to international and national brands, is now focusing on price increases. Cotton is the most widely used in denim. Half the cotton is used to produce this. Other clothing products, such as T-shirts, contain 40-50 percent cotton and underwear 10-20 percent.
