Chamoli (SunstarTV Bureau): A wee hours before reported a major breakdown of glaciers in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli caused a flash flood endangering the life of people living near the river bank.
However, the massive flood in Dhauliganga and Joshimath which was reported near Rani village, 26 km from Joshimath, destroyed many houses situated on the river bank.
Meanwhile, the Rishiganga Power Project has affected during the flood and at least 150 laborers who were working are feared missing. Authorities have issued a high alert from Charmoli to Haridwar.
As a precautionary measure, the flow of the Bhagirathi River has been stopped, said Chief Minister Trivendra Rawat. He also has convened an emergency meeting to take stock of the situation and to supervise rescue and relief operations.
Besides, CM Rawat also took to Twitter and urged people not to pay attention to any kind of rumors. “A disaster has been reported from Chamoli district. Do not pay attention to any kind of rumors. The government is taking all necessary steps.”

While on, CM Rawat also has released helpline numbers for affected area people.

A rescue operation is underway by the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) team and along with over 200 jawans also working with local administration.
