Met issues yellow warning of heavy cold wave to 6 districts in Odisha

Bhubaneswar (SunstarTV Bureau): The Regional Meteorological Department on Monday has issued heavy cold wave alert in most parts of the state during night hours.

The yellow warning has been issued for six districts including Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Keonjhar, Jharsuguda, Sundergarh and Deogarh for today.

Similarly, the same alert has been issued to Sundergarh, Jharuguda, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Angul, Deogarh, Boudh, Sonepur, Bolangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nuapada, Nabarangpur, Balasore and Bhadrak districts for tomorrow.

Concerned above the heavy cold wave alert, the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) has directed the respective district collectors to remain alert to meet any possible eventuality. District collectors have been directed to ensure opening of school and community buildings for use as shelter by the homeless and the needy during the night.

The mercury is likely to witness a slight rise after February 10. Districts like, Sundergahr, Jharsguda, Keonjhar, Deogarh, Mayurbhanj, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur and Bolangir are likely to experience relatively less cold condition after February 10, Met department predicted.
