The city residents will be provided with a special house number called Digital Door Number (DDN) which could be easily traced on internet. The new system will include the address which will contain only area code, house number and street number.
The civic body authorities will provide a barcode-based smart address card through which one can find the address of certain people, house or property by just scanning code or entering the unique ID number in to the Google. It will also help emergency services improve their delivery and response time.
The BMC has aimed at collecting more revenue from the city residents as the new system will be able to check tax evasion due to digitisation of address.
Over 60 houses have been included in the new system on the day-1 of the survey yesterday. More houses will be covered in a phased manner, sources said.
The civic body has aimed to connect all the houses in the Capital city to the new system by March 31.
The BMC had signed a MoU with a Hyderabad-based company–Navayuga Solution- for the digitization initiative. However, the rollout of the plan was delayed in the wake of Covid-19 pandemic.
