SunstarTV Bureau: On the eve of National Navy Day, Navy Chief Admiral Karambir Singh addresses press regarding Indian Navy operational readiness and modernization drive.
“41 of the 43 warships and submarines to be built for the navy in future are all to be made in India including the Indigenous Aircraft Carrier,” said Navy Chief during the Navy Day’s press conference.
Indian Navy has appointed four women officers on ships in November, and two women officers have been appointed in foreign billets in Maldives and Russia informed Admiral Karambir.
“Acquisition of 30 Predator drones for the three services is on and those drones would be much more capable. We are very clear that airpower at sea is required. If you are a nation that is aspirational and wants to be a 5 trillion economy & don’t want to be tethered to the shores…aircraft carriers are absolutely essential,” Army Chief further added.
He also added that, Indian Navy is procuring Smash-2000 rifles as anti-drone equipment to protect against attacking drones.
