Khordha (SunstarTV Bureau): Amid cases of bird flu, trigger panic over Khordha people as hundreds of chickens were reportedly found dead at a poultry farm in Badaberana village, Begunia in the last 2-3 days.
according to sources, no veterinary doctors had visited the farm. However, the exact reason behind the large-scale bird deaths is yet to be ascertained.
Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mohapatra on Wednesday reviewed the bird flu scenario. As per State Government statement, the no case of bird flu had been detected in the state yet.
After a review meeting on the current scenario Mohapatra had said around 11,000 samples from different areas have been tested but no case has been found positive.
The Chief Secretary has directed to intensify surveillance activities. Mohapatra also directed to form a rapid response team at the state and district level for mitigating any possible outbreak.
Besides, on Tuesday Khordha Chief District Veterinary Officer Dr Bishnu Charan Sahoo had informed that around 400 bird samples from Chilika have been sent for examination. On a precautionary measure poultry samples from OUAT were also sent to the Animal Disease Research Institute at Phulnakhara for tests.
