SunstarTV Bureau: Prime Minister of India and Bangladesh launched the Bangabandhu-Bapu museum and the Chilahati-Haldibari rail link at the e-summit, today.
“I was honoured to review our diverse ties with Bangladesh during my Virtual Summit with PM Sheikh Hasina today. We also unveiled a stamp honouring Bangabandhu, and launched the Bangabandhu-Bapu museum and the Chilahati-Haldibari rail link,” said PM Narendra Modi.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bangladeshi counterpart, Sheikh Hasina signed nine agreements in different fields, on Thursday.
While addressing the virtual meeting, PM of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina remarked that many Indian were working in Bangladesh and were enhancing bilateral economic ties.
Both the PM inaugurated the Chilahati Haldibari rail link, which is the fifth rail link between the two countries.
Modi said, “Bangladesh is a major pillar of our ‘neighborhood first’ policy and it has been a special priority for me from Day 1 to strengthen our relations with Bangladesh. Today I pay my respect to the martyrs of our both sides who sacrificed their lives during the 1971 war which marked our victory against the anti-Liberation forces.”

Next year, India and Bangladesh will jointly commemorate Mujib Borsho and 50 years of establishment of our diplomatic ties. I look forward to visiting Dhaka for paying my homage to the life and ideals of Bangabandhu.
Bangabandhu: Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Father of Bangladesh
Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, shortened as Sheikh Mujib or just Mujib, was a Bangladeshi politician and statesman. He is called the ‘Father of the Nation’ in Bangladesh. He served as the first President of Bangladesh and later as the Prime Minister of Bangladesh from 17 April 1971 until his assassination on 15 August 1975.
