New Delhi (SunstarTV Bureau): Good news keeps coming for the air travellers. Low cost carrier Akasa air which is backed by billionaire Rakesh Jhunjhunwala, has received a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Central government to operate.
Set to become India’s 7th airline, Akasa is expected to start operations by mid-2022.
The airline has already received initial clearance from the Civil Aviation Ministry to launch India’s latest ultra-low cost carrier.
SNV Aviation which will fly under the brand name Akasa Air, informed in a statement that it has received a “No Objection Certificate”from the ministry and plans to offer flight services across India starting in the summer of 2022.
The present CEO of Akasa Air, Vinay Dube said in a statement that the airline will continue to work with all the regulatory authorities in order to ensure a successful launch.
It is pertaining to mention here that Rakesh Jhunjhunwala has also known as the ‘Warren Buffett of India’ for his successful stock investments.
For this venture, Jhunjhunwala has teamed up with former CEO of Indigo Airlines, Aditya Ghosh and former Jet Airways CEO, Vinay Dube.
Akasa is a proposed low cost carrier to be based in India.
Through Akasa, Jhunjhunwala aims to acquire 70 aircrafts within the next four years and is targeting aircrafts equipped to accommodate proximately 180 passengers.
