New Delhi (SunstarTV Bureau): The Supreme Court on Thursday upheld the verdict in the corona death case. At the hearing, the court ruled in favour of Corona’s death, death certificate, and compensation. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, on behalf of the central government, said during the hearing that if anyone commits suicide within 30 days of being infected with Covid-19, the cause of death could be “covid death”.
“Anyone who dies within 30 days of the infection will be undergoing with COVID deaths,” said Tushar Mehta. In a populous country like India, however, the court has lauded the government’s move to compensate Covid despite various problems and adverse circumstances. The court ruled that the decision was taken “because of the government’s crackdown on dissent.”
The government has also responded to Corona’s death certificate in court. The government has said it will improve the number of death certificates issued earlier. The Solicitor General in court, for example, said that if a death certificate states that someone has a heart attack, family members can revise the certificate by showing their RT-PCA report. “If we can’t repair the damage, we can do something about it,” he told the Associated Press. Mehta said the government has not yet paid compensation for Corona’s death in any country in the world.
The central government has asked the Supreme Court to pay Rs 50,000 in compensation to the families of those who have already lost their lives in Karona. Following the court’s order, the government directed the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to draw up guidelines. The compensation will be provided to the families of the victims from the State Disaster Management Fund (SDRF).
