SunstarTV Bureau: Rising petrol and diesel prices in the country have caused a great deal of discontent. Petrol users who ride bikes and scooters will no longer face price hikes. All of these light vehicles will run on ethanol instead of petrol.
The Union Minister for Road, Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari on Thursday announced. According to Gadkari, a law would be enacted soon, during a review of the National Highway in Sohna, Haryana and Dosa in Rajasthan.
Gadkari said the government was also emphasizing environmental protection in the construction of the expressway. More than 1.1 million trees would be planted along the highway. The road will no longer be as dark as it used to be. Now the government has set a goal to set street lights in all highways.
“Solar lights will be installed on the national highway for this,” he said.
The Union minister has informed that the government is constructing 22 green national highways in the country. Roads are being built up to ensure that animals do not reach the highways. There are at least 5 Lakhs road accidents in the country annually. More than 1.5 million people are killed. Gadkari said the highway authorities had identified the accidental black spot on the national highway and were designing and changing roads everywhere.
