Mathura (SunstarTV Bureau): The Uttar Pradesh government has banned the sale of meat and liquor in Mathura, announced Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on the occasion of Shri Krishna Janmastami on Monday. The decision was taken after the demand raised to keep the Braj region free of meat and alcohol.
Besides, he also instructed officers to make plans to employ the people those are engaged in the business before.
Notably, Yogi Adityanath attended the Janmastami festivities at Mathura and said that Lord Krishna had granted his three years old wish today. Further Yogi said that development in Mathura-Vrindavan was being done keeping in mind the cultural and spiritual heritage of the Braj region. Meanwhile, a special authority has been organized keeping this in mind.
The festivities were observed in the twin city of Mathura and Virndavan on Krishna Janmastami. Mathura often referred to as the capital of the Braj region saw tens of thousands of Krishna devotees thronging to the Krishna’s born place to witness the spectacle of Lord Krishna’s birth at the stroke of midnight.
