At last, the Odisha government has decided to drop its decision and denied the Andhra Pradesh consent for publication of the final decision of the Vansadhara water dispute tribunal in Supreme Court.
The confirmation has made by the Odisha Water resources department after releasing a statement on Tuesday.
On September 13, 2017, as per the final order of tribunal, had allowed Andhra government to construct Naredi Barrage on river Vansadhara.
Soon after against the final order of tribunal, the Odisha government had filed SLP (No. 8030/2018) before Supreme Court on December 12, 2017. Moreover, another SLP has filed for issuance of tribunal for joint survey in Odisha’s territory on September 9, 2019. However, the applied case pending before SC.
Moreover, against Its final order the State government had also filed an application for clarification before the Vansadhara tribunal.
The tribunal pronounced its further report on June 21, 2021 wherein it has kept its final order (dated 13.09.2017) intact, but subject to the finalisation of SLP in the Supreme Court.
