SunstarTV Bureau: The Railways on Thursday said it will now enable the facility to book unreserved tickets through its UTS on Mobile app to decongest booking counters and to ensure smooth compliance of social distancing norms.
Good news for rail passengers. The UTS mobile app, which has been closed for a long time, will once again be available. Through this app, passengers can now sit in their homes and make general tickets with the help of mobile phones.
Currently, the Railways has operationalized almost 65 per cent of its mail and express trains and over 90 per cent of its suburban services as compared to the pre-lockdown levels.
A total of 1,250 mail and express trains, 5,350 suburban trains and more than 326 passenger trains are currently in operation on a daily basis.
This UTS app can be installed by both Android and iPhone users on their mobile phones. To use this app, you have to keep your GPS active.
Passengers will be given a PNR number after booking a general ticket on the UTS mobile app. Six tickets can be made to one PNR number. You have to pay for this ticket in digital mode.
To use this app you first need to download the UTS app on your mobile. Then you will give your name, mobile number and other necessary information there. Once you provide the information, you will be able to register with the app. An OTP will be sent to your mobile when registering. Your ID and password will come to your phone after you give the OTP. There you can book tickets after logging in.
