SunstarTV Bureau: United States researchers at the University of Colorado Boulder have created the dystopian movie ‘The Matrix’- style bracelets that transfer the body heat into energy.
The wearable device can power the wearers’ watches or fitness trackers by wearing a stretchy ring or bracelet containing thermoelectric chips that convert heat into electrical energy, according to a Journal of Science Advances researched report.
“(Thermoelectric devices) can provide continuous power to wearable devices and could potentially replace batteries in the future,” said the paper’s senior author, Jianliang Xiao.
“We hope this technology could, at least partially solve the pollution problems of electronic waste,” he further added.
According to the device’s ability, it can generate about 1 volt of energy per square centimeter of skin covered.
More researches are underway which further increases the amount of power produced and also allows for mass production.
“The gadget could be on sale in five to 10 years,” Xiao reported.
Notably, the ideas had come to the fore where humans are trapped in the Matrix, a simulated reality, while hooked up to a machine to provide electrical power for robots that have taken over the world.
