SunstarTV Bureau: India is celebrating its 11th National Voters Day (NVD). On this occasion the Election Commission of India is going to launch the e-EPIC (Electronic Electoral Photo Identity Card), today.

The day is celebrated on January 25 every year since 2011. According to the government, over 10 lakh locations across the country that include polling stations, subdivisions, district headquarters celebrate this day to mark the foundation day of the Election Commission of India, which was founded on January 25, 1950.

From today onward voters in India can make use of this new digital option for the five upcoming state elections.

The e-EPIC is a secure portable document format (PDF) version of the EPIC which can be downloaded on mobile or in a self-printable form on the computer. A voter can store the card on his or her mobile, upload it as a PDF on Digi locker or print it and self-laminate it. This is in addition to PCV EPIC being issued currently.

India’s President Ramnath Kovind took to his official twitter account to wish everyone on this occasion.
