Bhubaneswar: Decision of the Odisha government to reopen the schools from November 15 stands in a state of tumult for now.
Keeping in view, the possibility of Odisha being hit by Covid’s second wave in December, the date of reopening of schools may get postponed, stated Minister of Mass Education, Samir Das.
The Odisha government had issued guide lines for reopening of school from November 15 for Class 9 to 12 in a graded manner as Covid-19 positive cases were recording a steady decline over the past few weeks.
Parents, teachers as well as students have vehemently opposed the Odisha Government’s plan of the partial reopening of schools for students after Diwali and demanded continuation of online classes till situation normalises. The State continues to report over 1,000 new Covid-19 infections a day which is a decline but the ensuing winter is expected to see a spike.
