SunstarTV Bureau: The government of Nepal has decided to build the tallest Shiva idol of 108 feet at Pumdikot mountain of Pokhara.
Construction has already been started by the Hindu community in Pumdikot of Pokhara and the work is 45 per cent completed. The idol installation work will cost Rs 400 million.
Being a land of mystic mountains and tales, Nepal is a paradise for hikers, hidden between China and India. It is said that Nepal is the birth place of Budhha and now a haven of peace and tolerance . It’s been an important trading point for silk. The high peaks of Himalays attract many aspiring alpinists for its real challenge and striking scenario .The country mostly depends on tourism for its economy, especially adventure tourism. However, the nation is now suffering from huge losses due to the outbreak of COVID-19 and is putting a lot of effort to revive tourism sector again.
Pokhara is expected to be developed as a popular destination for religious pilgrimage, after the idol is built. It was already known as one of the favourite tourist destinations in western Nepal.
Chandrakanta Baral, Chairman of the construction committee said, “We expect to complete the work within two years”. Besides religious point of view, the spot is sure to support the promotion of tourism in Pokhara, he further claimed.
