SunstarTV Bureau: Ranveer Singh is constantly working towards raising the problems faced by the deaf community, that is, the blind community. He has also been urging the authorities to recognize and declare Indian Sign Language as the 23rd official language of India. Ranveer has always raised his voice regarding social issues and recently he has also signed a petition aimed at raising awareness about ISL.
Ranveer’s independent record label Inkinc, which he co-produced with Navzar Irani, has also released music videos in sign language. IncInk is the only record label to take such a progressive step. Seeing Ranveer’s efforts towards making Indian Sign Language an official language, the deaf community of India has wholeheartedly appreciated him and has also prepared a thank you video to thank him. On the occasion of International Sign Language Day 2021, Ranveer appealed to the youth to create an inclusive space for the deaf community.
Superstar Ranveer says, “If there is anything we have learned in the last year-and-a-half, it is to salute the strength of the community and be always available to each other. My message to the youth would be to keep doing your job… and if you can somehow create an inclusive space by working with the deaf community, please try! For this, work can be done in the field of hospitality to education and creative arts. All of us can bring this change together and my trust and support is with the youth of our country.
Ranveer says, ‘There is a long way to go ahead. At Inc.Inc, we are all committed to being an ally of our deaf community to grow and achieve our goals with them. There are several phases in this journey, the first phase is supporting the deaf community through a petition (https://incink.fanlink.to/ISLPetition) for official recognition of the ISL and the next step is to support the deaf community on the ground. The society will be made more inclusive by reaching out.
He added, “At Inc., we create art and we will continue to make this art accessible to the deaf community. For example, today to celebrate International Sign Language Day, we released ISL videos – Love, Music, Black, and Do and Thoughts. We have such ideas which are being brainstormed. We will further strengthen our relationship with the Deaf community through dialogue.
