Bhubaneswar (SunstarTV Bureau): The 11th Hockey India Junior and Senior Women National Championship 2021 to host by Jharkhand which has left no stone unturned to ensure the smooth functioning of the championship to be held in Simdega in between 21 October to 30 October 2021.
Meanwhile, the Odisha women junior and senior lead with 18 member teams are fully prepared to play on the battleground of hockey podium, informed Odisha’s adhoc committee member Padma Shri Dr. Dilip Tirkey.
In Odisha, Ashmita Birla as the captain of Senior Woman hockey team and Jyoti Chattri as the captain of Junior Woman hockey team will take lead. Smt Paulina Surin, an internationally renowned women’s hockey star, will be the team’s manager, and Lazarus Barla, the Olympic Hockey star, will be the coach of the team. Dr. Shoven Physio and Reshma Lakra of the Kalinga Stadium Centre for excellence will be in charge.
Along with the junior women’s hockey team, volleyball coach Mrs. Sushma Nanda and Senior Hockey coach Shri Kalucharan Choudhury will be the team managers and coaches respectively. The team will be joined by Ms. Subhasmita Mohanty as a physiotherapist and Mrs. Sarita Roshan Hanuman and Upasana Yadav as a fitness trainer.
The junior women’s hockey team will travel to Simdega tomorrow. For the past two weeks, the training camp at the hockey ground at Kalinga Stadium has been closed and the women’s team have been on the eve of the women’s team’s visit, Padma Shri Dr. Dilip Tirkey visited them.
On behalf of the Department of Sports and Youth Services, Government of Odisha, Dilip Tirkey and Joint Secretary Shailendra Kumar Jena on behalf of the Government of Odisha congratulated the teams. By giving the teams Odisha’s jerseys and other equipment both wished them luck for the upcoming completion.
