Bareilly (SunstarTV Bureau): A young man aged about 26 in Uttar Pradesh was arrested by the police who learned fingerprint cloning allegedly hacked 500 bank accounts. Police later arrested six people.
The man has been identified as Gaurav, who is a graduate and runs a photocopy shop in Kant area. Two other accused are absconding.
According to Times of India (TOI) report, Gaurav told police that it cost him Rs 5 only to clone a fingerprint using a glue-gun and adhesive. He had learnt the cloning technique online.
Reportedly, Sahahjahanpur police have recovered 500 cloned fingerprints of the victims including their bank passbooks, Adhar Cards. During an investigation, police unearthed about Gourav used to clone fingerprints of bank mitras using glue gun and adhesive. Police suspect that Gaurav may have been involved in other gangs in the district.
