Russia (SunstarTV Bureau): New strain of Coronavirus case has detected for the first time in Moscow, Russia which was earlier reported in United Kingdom (UK).
The report has confirmed by Anna Popova, the head of Russia’s consumer rights and human well-being watchdog Rospotrebnadzor.
According to the head of Russia’s health regulator Rospotrebnadzor, “One person returning to Russia from the UK was found to have been infected with the new strain.”
However, Watchdog head Anna Popova did not specify when the individual tested positive for Coronavirus or any other circumstances surrounding the discovery.
Notably, the B117 coronavirus strain was first emerged in southeastern England late last year and has since been detecting in dozens of countries around the world. Moscow temporarily suspended flights to and from the UK in December, following a similar move by dozens of other countries in the wake of the emergence of the new strain.
Russia registered 22,851 new Covid-19 cases over the past day, taking the national total to 3,401,954, said the country’s Covid-19 response center on Sunday.
