Balasore (SunstarTV Bureau): Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully carried out the trials of the Medium Range Surface to Air Missile (MR-SAM) at Balasore today.
For the purpose of testing, 3,723 local people had been dislocated from the possible affected zone. The officials have vacated about 2.5 km radius distance from the launch pad. For which people of 5 villages were dislocated.
As per officials, MR-SAM systems developed for the Indian Army, is made complete indigenously, including the mortar. In the trials, the missile secured a direct hit on the target at 3.55 pm. The missile can carry weight up to 60 kg.

the MR-SAM was developed by India’s Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) in collaboration with Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI). It was handed over to the Indian Air Force (IAF) in August 2019.
The missile is designed to provide the armed forces with air defence capability against a variety of aerial threats at medium ranges.
