SunstarTV Bureau: To boost the online-education, Punjab Government has distributed smart phones to Class 12 students of government schools.
As the Covid-19 pandemic has put the whole world into an abysmal angst, all the sectors have been hit hard. Education sector suffered the worst due to this uncertain scenario. As a consequence, students of every group from school to PhD have been affected.
To surmount the academic barrier, Punjab Government has taken this praise worthy initiative.
Under the programme, smart phones were to be given to 1,75,443 Class 12 students. Till now approximately, 1,30,000 students have already received the mobile phones.
Punjab Chief Minister, Captain Amarinder Singh, took to the micro-blogging site Twitter, to announce the number of students who have received the smart phones till today.
The minister said, “To facilitate seamless e-learning in our Govt Schools we had decided to give Smartphone to Class XII students. We will be giving mobile phones to all 1,75,443 Class XII students of which 1,30,000 have been covered till today.”

On August 12, Captain Amarinder Singh, had tweeted, “The Punjab Government has initiated the first phase of distributing smart phones to Class 12 students.”
Earlier speaking on this occasion, Education Minister Vijay Inder Singla, said a sum of Rs 92 core was being spent on procuring these smart phones.
