SunstarTV Bureau: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik hold virtual meeting with the collectors to review MGNREGA implementation and development, today.
CM reviewed implementation of MGNREGA Employment Scheme and Urban Employment Scheme in all districts. He mentioning about hardship faced by the poor due to economic slowdown and directed all collectors to ensure that no family suffers due to lack of employment.
Naveen alerted the district collectors that strict action will be taken if there is a delay in disbursal of wages of the poor who earn a living through MGNREGA and State sponsored schemes. Aim is to create 20 crore man days by end of the current financial year.
He directed completion of construction of 1,000 Mission Shakti homes by the end of next March and ‘Parichay’ homes by the end of January. CM advised district collectors to fully spend the funds provided under the scheme by end of the financial year.
Emphasising that beneficiaries should get their wages on time, CM advised collectors to monitor wage issue by regularly calling the beneficiaries through Mo Sarkar platform. CM expressed satisfaction that beneficiaries in some districts were getting paid on time.

MGNREGA means Mahatma Gandhi Employment Guarantee Act 2005, is an Indian labour law and social security measure that aims to guarantee the ‘right to work’. This act was passed in September 2005 under the UPA government of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
