Bhubaneswar (SunstarTV Bureau): Odisha’s three laureate scientists- Dr. Ranjeet Panigrahi, Dr. Akash Kumar Bhoi and Dr. Pradeep Kumar Mallik have brought glory to the state for successfully making Australian Innovation Patent (IP) to their names.
They have accomplished the benefit for contributing in development of self-adjusting toilet seat in the field of Machine Learning and Internet of Things. The data collected from the smart toilet seat would automatically be sent to the cloud — so there’s no burden on the patient.
Two types of patent protection are available in Australia: an innovation patent and a standard patent. However, innovation patents are due to be phased out from 27 August 2021.
To be eligible for an innovation patent an invention must relate to eligible subject matter and be useful, novel and innovative. Meanwhile, to be eligible for a standard patent an invention must relate to eligible subject matter and be useful, novel and inventive.
