The promoter of the US-based Silicon Power Group, which is planning to open a 150mm Silicon Carbide manufacturing facility in Odisha with an investment of $1 billion, Dr. Harshad Mehta, was met by the Odisha Government team at Silicon Valley (US). Dr. Mehta has provided the delegation from the Odisha Government with a Letter of Intent.
RIR Power Electronics, the group’s Indian subsidiary, will make the investment. In the design, development, manufacture, and testing of high-power semiconductor devices and utility-applicable systems, Silicon Power is a significant technology innovator and solutions supplier.
This will be a ground-breaking manufacturing facility in Odisha and a showcase for the state’s government’s initiatives to create a semiconductor ecosystem there. The business has pledged to opening its doors in the upcoming 18 to 24 months.
The delegation highlighted Odisha’s industrial environment and the large incentive package offered under several policies, including the recently approved Semiconductor Manufacturing & Fabless Policy, during a thorough and in-depth conversation with the firm team.
