Bhubaneswar (SunstarTV Bureau): With skyrocketing petrol and diesel prices across the country putting huge burden on consumers. As per the latest report, the price of petrol reached high rate in Odisha for the first time as the extra premium petrol rate breached the century mark per liter in Malkangiri district on Tuesday morning.
The premium petrol price rate recorded as Rs 100.03 per liter. Official sources said that petrol is being sold at Rs 96.31 per liter in the district, while diesel price has spiked to Rs 93.13 a liter.
Meanwhile, the cost of per liter petrol in the Capital city Bhubaneswar, reached to Rs 91.64, and diesel rate at Rs 88.64 a liter.
Similarly in Cuttack the petrol price reached at Rs 91.95 per liter while diesel stands at Rs 88.91 a liter. In Sambalpur district, the petrol price at Rs 92.21 per liter and diesel at Rs 89.18 a liter and in Bolangir at Rs 93.19 per liter petrol rate and diesel at Rs 90.13 per liter.
“We are facing a lot of difficulties due to spiraling prices of petrol and diesel. In the covid-19 pandemic situation, the burden has doubled,” said one commuter.
Meanwhile, today as a mark of protest against the rising fuel prices, several Congress MLAs today rode bicycle to reach the Odisha Legislative Assembly. Congress legislators Suresh Kumar Routray, Taraprasad Bahinipati and Adhiraj Panigrahi were seen paddling the bicycles on Lok Seva Marg.
