Bhubaneswar (SunstarTV Bureau): The State Government has informed about the hike of monthly stipend of house surgeons of the State-run medical colleges and hospitals from Rs 20,000 to Rs 28,000.
The stipend of the house surgeon will be effective from January 1, 2021 which further to prevail for a period of three years, informed sources.
“I am directed to say that in considering the demand of House Surgeons Association and the views of the DMET to this effect, Government have been pleased to enhance the monthly stipend of the House Surgeons of the Government Medical Colleges of the State from Rs 20,000 to Rs 28,000 per month,” reads the letter of the State Health and Family Welfare Department.
Notably, the initiative has been taken after the medical staffs threatened agitation over the demand for hike in stipend amount. Reportedly, they had been working wearing black badges as a mark of protest since January 22.
