Bhubaneswar (SunstarTV Bureau): In order to make the campus and the environment plastic free, the Alumni Association of Utkal University has launched “Single use plastic free Vani Vihar” campaign at the premises of the University on Saturday morning at 8.30 am.
In collaboration with the Utkal Univesity Authority on the death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the campaign has furnished inside the campus near Ahimsa Sthal where hundreds of students fetched their helping hand to the eco-friendly drive.
In the function, Prof. Sabita Acharya, the vice chancellor of the University and the president of the Alumni Association and former Chief Secretary of Odisha Govt, B.K Patnaik paid their precious visit.
Along with the noted persons, Prof. Ashok Das the General Secretary and former Vice Chancellor, Prof. Basant Kumar Mallik the Chairman of P.G. Council, Avaya Kumar Nayak the registrar of Utkal university and Deputy commissioner (Sanitation), Bhubaneswar Municipality Corporation (BMC), Bhubaneswar.
The function was followed by a procession of students, shopkeepers, alumni and public in the campus with slogans and placards to create awareness and sanitize all the stake holders against the use of single use plastic while cleaning the campus of single use plastic debris.
Amongst other noted alumni Sri Debendra Kumar Das the Vice President, Dillip Bisoi, Pradeep Kumar Rath, Parbir Das, Ajay Kumar Mohapatra, Tanmaya Swain, Rajesh Raj Swain, Sangram Keshari Patra, Sangram Das, Gangadhar Rath, Dr. Birakishore Das, Akshaya Parida, Santosh Sethy and Laxmidhar Chand were graced the meeting and contributed substantially for its success.
