Berhampur (SunstarTV Bureau): On Tuesday, police personnel have busted and seized an illegal deal involving sale of antique Hanuman coins in Ganjam district and arrest of seven persons involving in this connection.
The accused were identified as Pradhan Mohapatra, Anil Kusum, Suresh Meher of Sambalpur district while the others named Jayant Pradhan, Bijay Kumar Bag of Rourkela, Akshay Kumar Patra of Sorada and Jayram Patra of Nuagaon in Ganjam.
Reportedly, the racket was busted during a raid at a house owned by one Surya Patra at Shanti Nagar area under Bada Bazar police limits in Berhampur on Monday.
During the raid, three copper Hanuman coins, Rs 1.5 lakh cash, two motorcycles, magnet, spirit and other incriminating items were seized from the possession of the arrested persons.
Notably, an incident happened last year in December 16 at Subalaya area in Sundargarh district where cops arrested seven for allegedly kidnapping a youth who had taken 3 lakh from a person among, being alluring them to give a Hanuman Coin. After he failed to give, the seven kidnapped the person.
