SunstarTV Bureau: Governor and chancellor of universities, Ganeshi Lal has appointed Sanjiv Mittal as the new Vice chancellor of the Sambalpur University for a period of four years.
Mittal is presently working as a professor, University School of Management Studies, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, New Delhi.
The outgoing VC Deepak Kumar Behera’s term ended on January 17.
After taking interviews of three shortlisted candidates, the governor has selected 62-year-old Mittal for the top job. He has 29 years of teaching experience and also 111 publications in his name as well as successfully guided 11 PhD scholars.
On November 25 last year, the higher education department had issued advertisements for the post of vice-chancellor of the Sambalpur University, Ravenshaw University and Odisha State Open University.
For Sambalpur University and Ravenshaw University, tenure of the VCs will be four years from the date he/she assumes office or till he/she attains 67 years of age, whichever is earlier and for Odisha State Open University, tenure of VC is three years and the age limit is 65 years.
According to the sources, the governor will select vice-chancellors of the Ravenshaw University and the Odisha State Open University within next two days.
In November last year, the Governor had selected VCs for six universities- Utkal University, Fakir Mohan University, Rama Devi Women’s University, GM University Sambalpur, Khallikote University Berhampur and Maharaja Sriram Chandra Bhanja Deo University (formerly North Odisha University) Baripada.
