Cuttack (SunstarTV Bureau): A major relief to the cancer patients as Orissa High Court directed Odisha government to bear expenses of Positron Emission Tomography (PET) and X-ray computed tomography CT scans of all patients from Wednesday onwards.
The initiative finalized after a petition filed by a cancer patient. Later court passed an interim order directing Odisha government to bear all expenses of the PET-CT scan. However, High Court also shocked over the unavailability of the scanning machine at Acharya Harihar Regional Cancer Institute, the premier cancer-care unit in state.
Notably, due to unavailability of the scanning machine at the health institute, the cancer patients are forced to visit private labs for scanning.
