“We want Centre to withdraw Farm laws that can destroy farmers & agriculture,” says Farmers Leader Praful Samantaray.
It’s been eight days, farmers from all over the country have gathered around the streets of Delhi in protest against Center’s farm laws.
The Farmer’s Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill, 2020 and the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement of Price Assurance and Farm Services Bill, 2020 were passed by the Upper House in September through voice vote despite objection from opposition parties.
The farmers however believe that the new laws will take away their guaranteed minimum price and leave them at the mercy of big retailers.
