In the financial year 2023, about 1,320 CEOs in India earned more than 1 crore. Here, we discuss the ten highest paid CEOs in India whose leadership and strategic acumen have earned them the highest earnings.
1. Ravi Kumar Singisetty Ravi Kumar Singisetty took charge of Cognizant on January 12, 2023, replacing Brian Humphreys. According to India Today report, he received a salary of Rs 186 crore last year. Most of his income came in the form of shares of around Rs 169.1 crore.
2. Thierry Delaporte According to News18, Thierry Delaport, who resigned as Wipro CEO, has become India’s second highest paid CEO with an income of Rs 82 crore in FY2023. In his place, Srinivas Palia is acting as CEO and Managing Director from April 7.
3. Sandeep Kalra According to a Livemint report, Sandeep Kalra as CEO and Managing Director earned Rs 61.7 crore in the last financial year. This is reported to be 31% higher than the 46.9 crores earned in the financial year 2022. Kalra joined Persistent Systems in 2019 and became CEO in 2020.
4. NItin Rakesh
According to CNBC, Pteen Rakesh, CEO and Director of Mphasys, earned Rs 59.2 crore in the financial year 2023. He has led Emphasis since 2017, driving its growth in competitive IT services and consulting.
5. Salil Parekh CEO Salil Parekh earned Rs 56 crore last year, of which a major chunk of his income came from the exercise of his restricted stock units (RSUs) of around Rs 30.6 crore. Despite this significant income, it was less than Rs 71 crore earned in the financial year 2020, Money Control reported.
6. Sudhir Singh According to News 18, Sudhir Singh, CEO and Managing Director of CoForge, earned Rs 43 crore in FY2023. He has headed CoForge, an IT services firm based in Noida and New Jersey since January 2020.
7. CP Gurnani According to an Economic Times report, Tech Mahindra’s former CEO and Managing Director CP Gurnani earned Rs 32 crore last year before resigning in December 2023.
8. Rajesh Gopinathan Former CEO and Managing Director of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) Rajesh Gopinathan earned Rs 29.61 crore in FY 2023. Out of this, his salary was Rs 1.73 crore. Along with this, there are additional benefits and allowances worth Rs.2.43 crore. Gopinathan resigned from the post of CEO in 2023.
9. C Vijayakumar C Vijayakumar, CEO and Managing Director of HCL Tech earned Rs 28.4 crore in FY 2023. According to the Economic Times report, he has been with HCL since 2016 and is guiding the company towards new technological advancements.
10. Sanjeev Mehta According to Financial Express, Hindustan Unilever’s CEO Sanjeev Mehta earned Rs 22.36 crore in the financial year 2023. This has increased from 22.07 crores last year. He has been heading the consumer goods giant since October 2013.
