Kabul (SunstarTV Bureau): The top Taliban leader and the Deputy Prime Minister in the new Afghanistan government Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar has returned to Kabul and assumed his duties.
Reportedly, he was guarded by his own security men.
Amid widespread rumours about his death, Baradar and Taliban issued an audio statement saying the Taliban leader was in good health.
However, Baradar also refused when Haqqani had insisted that he take security from the Interior Ministry.
According to reports, the return of Baradar may further aggravate tensions in the capital. The ISI backed Haqqani Network is likely to increase in the upcoming days.
More interestingly, Baradar has been ranked among the top 100 most influential people by Time Magazine.
According to Time Magazine, Baradar was making all the major decisions. This included offering amnesty to members of the former regime, the lack of bloodshed when the Taliban entered Kabul. He was also responsible for the Taliban’s contacts and visits to other countries especially China.
