Balasore (SunstarTV Bureau): The five accused arrested in DRDO espionage incident were produced before court on Saturday. However, they further would be taken on remand for interrogation, informed Sanjeeb Panda, the Crime Branch Additional Director General (ADG) today.
According to Panda, the mysterious woman had seven Facebook accounts under different names where she disguised as different names. Besides, she approached two among five accused for marriage.
“She claims that a resident of Balasore and also used to video called two of the accused frequently. She also had invited one of the accused to meet her at her Chandipur residence,” said the ADG.
Further investigation is underway to get details of the Dubai-based bank account, from where one of the five accused had received a cash transfer of around Rs 38,000 and the UK number. Efforts are underway to find out if money was received from other sources and the genuine identity of the woman.
Earlier on September 22, Crime Branch sources had revealed that the mysterious’ woman was in contact with the five former contractual staff of the high-security defence installation for the last one and a half years using multiple identities.
On September 14, the Balasore police had arrested the five accused on charges of sharing classified defence information with unknown foreign agents, who are suspected to be from Pakistan.
