Bhubaneswar (SunstarTV Bureau): The Health and Family Welfare (H&FW) department on Tuesday informed that Odisha has reported 212 cases of Black Fungus or Mucormycosis and 29 of them have succumbed to the serious fungal infection so far.
According to H&FW department’s statement, out of total number of infectees, 109 are undergoing treatment at different hospitals in the state. Besides, 68 patients have recovered from the disease.
Pertaining to mention here that, Odisha government has confirmed first ever Black Fungus case on May 10. Till July first week, the state had 130 cases of Black Fungus and 20 deaths due to the fungal infections.
Earlier, Director of Public Health Niranjan Mishra had stated that situation in the state is not critical in comparison to other states with very few number of cases being reported in the state.
