Bhubaneswar (SunstarTV Bureau): The schools in Odisha remaining shut for so long due to COVID-19 are likely to reopen in October, informed the School and Mass Education Department on Monday. Besides, State Government has been preparing Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) in this regard, reports said.
If the decreasing trend of daily COVID-19 cases in the state continues for the next 15 days, the government may decide for commencement of physical classes for Std 1 to Std 8 students from October first week or after Dussehra, the reports added.
The District Education Officers (DEOs) and Block Education Officers (BEOs) have been directed to take steps for cleaning of school campuses and classrooms before Dussehra. A discussion over the matter was held at a meeting chaired by School and Mass Education Department Secretary Satyabrata Sahu.
Worth mentioning, experts have also suggested the Central and State governments for reopening of primary schools citing that children have adequate immunity power. Physical classes for Std-9 and Std-10 students have already resumed in the state.
