Bhubaneswar (SunstarTV Bureau): Web channel journalist Sudhanshu Shekhar Raut has arrested on charges of making obscene remarks and blackmailing Odisha’s ace sprinter Dutee Chand on social media. Sudhanshu has been detained at the Women’s Police Station. Dutee has registered a complaint against Sudhanshu of making obscene comments and blackmailing on social media.
Three people were charged in connection with the matter. The allegations were made in the name of Sudhanshu Shekhar Raut, Pradeep Pradhan, Smriti Ranjan Behera. The case was registered under Sections 272 (2), 354 (a), 345, 506, 506, 120 (b) and 4.
While Dutee was busy during the last Tokyo Olympics event, Sudhanshu on social media and the concerned web channel covered a lot of objectionable news about her family and her. For which she was depressed, said Dutee.
The Ace Sprinter complained at a press conference on Thursday informed that the sort of reason lade her performance down.
“While I was competing with world-class athletes at the Olympics, journalist Sudhanshu and RTI activist Pradeep went on to make various negative comments on social media,” she said. They tried to discredit me, my supporters and my coach. Frequent phone calls bothered me in Tokyo. So I have taken a legal action against those people.”
She urged Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to take action against the perpetrators. In addition, the envoy has filed a Rs 5 crore defamation suit against those who defamed her by spreading false and misleading news in the Bhubaneswar Civil Court.
