Bhubaneswar (SunstarTV Bureau): The State Health and Family Welfare (H&FW) department on Thursday informed that the Covid-19 positivity tally in Odisha surged to 9,83,523 while the death toll reached to 6,236 with the additional of 1,342 fresh cases and 68 fatalities.
Meanwhile the Information and Public Relations (I&PR) Department today informed that among the number of cases reported, total 775 are from quarantine centres, while the rest 567 are local contact cases.
However, Khordha district reported the highest 477 new cases, followed by Cuttack with 164, Jagatsinghpur with 78, Jajpur with 66, Balasore with 59 and Puri with 55 so far.
The districts which registered below 50 cases are- Kendrapara (43), Bhadrak (40), Angul (30), Nayagarh (28), Keonjhar (23), Dhenkanal (19), Rayagada (18), Sambalpur (18), Koraput (11), Ganjam (9), Bargarh (8), Malkangiri (7), Kandhamal (5), Sonepur (4), Gajapati (4), Balangir (3), Deogarh (3), Jharsuguda (3), Nuapada (3), Kalahandi (3) and Nabarangpur (2). Boudh district reported nil cases in the last 24 hours.
In terms of deaths, 13 fatalities were reported from Khordha district, 12 each from Puri and Sundargarh, 11 from Cuttack, four from Kendrapara and three from Bargarh. Two each deaths reported in Balasore and one each in Bhadrak, Bolangir, Jajpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Nabarangpur, Nayagarh, Nuapada and Sambalpur districts.
With this, the active cases in the State remained at 13,516 while 9,63,718 patients have recovered, including 1,630 on Wednesday, from the disease so far.
