Chandbali (SunstarTV Bureau): Weighing about 2 kilograms, a rare yellow coloured turtle was spotted and rescued in Chandbali block, Bhadrak district, informed forest officials on Tuesday.
Reportedly, a local teacher in Chandbali block has spotted the rare turtle rescued on Monday.
Soonafter, he informed about the turtle to the local forest official. After being informed, the officials took the turtle and released in Baitarani river.
Locals gathered in large number to witness the rare turtle.
“An albino Indian flapshell turtle (Lissemys punctata) was rescued from Baitarani River on July 12 from Chandbali Wildlife Range. It was released after consulting a veterinarian,” Odisha, principal chief conservator of forests (PCCF), wildlife, Shashi Paul told IANS.
Notably, last year in the same month a yellow turtle was rescued by a group of locals from the Sujanpur village in Soro block of Balasore district which pics and videos went viral on social media.
