Bhubaneswar (SunstarTV Bureau): A member of the central team named Dr. Shibani Dutta came to Odisha to strengthen the efforts of the state in its fight against the Covid pandemic, reached Bhubaneswar on Monday.
Dutta from All India Institute of Hygiene & Public Health (AIIH&PH), Kolkata, and Dr Prasanta Mohapatra from All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bhubaneswar, have been designated by the Centre to review the Covid-19 situation.
The team is to interact with authorities in Bhubaneswar today and will be visiting the districts having caseloads tomorrow. The team will review the tracing, surveillance, and containment activities and whether the hospitals in the districts are equipped or not.
Reportedly, the Central government has rushed multi-disciplinary teams to six states including Odisha for Covid-19 control and containment measures in view of the increased number of cases being reported by them.
It said that these teams, consisting of a clinician and a public health expert, will be supporting them in their efforts for targeted Covid response and management, and effectively tackling the pandemic.
