Balasore (SunstarTV Bureau): The surface to surface short-range ballistic missile ‘Agni-Prime’ was successfully fired off on Monday at 10.55 am from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur in Balasore district.
Meanwhile, various telemetry and radar stations positioned along the eastern coast tracked and monitored the missile, informed the DRDO official sources.
The nuclear-capable missile has been designed and developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).
With a range of 1000 km to 2000 km, Agni-Prime can carry a payload of 1000 kg. The missile is lighter and much sleeker than Agni-1.
