Deogarh (SunstarTV Bureau): As part of immediate preventive measures after detection of the first case of COVID-19 Delta Plus Variant in Odisha, the state Government sent an epidemiology team to Deogarh District Headquarters Hospital (DHH), where the patient has been hospitalised.
The team will examine health condition of the infectee and conduct contact tracing. The officials will also verify condition of those, who came in contact with him recently and if they were vaccinated.
Director of Health Services Bijay Mohapatra said the Delta Plus variant infectee was vaccinated on March 30 but later contracted the virus after coming in contact with a person infected by the virus.
“He had no symptoms since he was vaccinated against the virus. In May, his sample was sent for genome sequencing. However, his health condition is completely stable now,” said the official.
Regarding the situation in the state, Mohapatra said special strategies are being adopted in districts with high infection rate. Surveillance and vaccination are being rapidly done on war-footing basis. People not following COVID appropriate behaviour is one of the major factors responsible for slow decline in the number of positive cases, he added.
“The Government is a keeping a close watch on the situation and examining the data on daily basis. A high-committee meeting will be held soon to take a decision on the next course of action after June 30,” the officials stated.
