Bhubaneswar (SunstarTV Bureau): The Odisha government has decided to stop providing of Covid-19 vaccines to private hospitals after reviewing the revised Covid-19 vaccination campaign guidelines issued by the Centre.
In a letter, the Additional Chief Secretary of Health and Family Welfare Department, PK Mohapatra directs District Collectors, Municipal Commissioners and CDMOs, and PHOs that of not to provide vaccines to the private hospital further.
Besides, he asked officials to withdraw vaccine stock from the private hospitals.
Notably, the State had approved setting up of government-sponsored vaccination centres in private hospitals as an extension of government CVC vaccination of 18 to 44 year age group only from the State procured vaccine. However, the State government’s recent decision was taken after the Government of India decided to supply vaccines for vaccination of 18 years and above citizens.
The letter further mentioned the private hospitals interested for providing vaccination to citizens can procure vaccines directly from the manufacturer.
