Bhubaneswar (SunstarTV Bureau): While the State facing shortage of beds at hospitals for Covid-19 patients, in the wake of the exponential rise in daily positive cases here, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has come up with a novel idea to ensure adequate number of beds for the patients.
According to sources, The civic body has planned to covert various hotels into temporary Covid centers by tying them up with various private hospitals. The facility is expected to be a great help for the patients having mild symptoms.These centres, however, would be purely paid one for the patients, a statement issued by the civic body stated.As per the plan, a patient can be referred to the concerned tied-up hospital if the condition of the patient deteriorates or he needs special attention.
BMC Commissioner Sanjay Kumar Singh discussed the idea with the owners of major hotels and representatives of the hotel and restaurant association at a meeting through virtual route.While appreciating the move, the hotel owners requested the BMC Commissioner for facilitating the tie-up with the private hospitals and make other necessary arrangements.
The Commissioner suggested the hotel owners to approach the private hospitals of their choice for the tie-up arrangement before intimating the civic body.
The Commissioner assured them to extend all assistance in coordination and facilitation of logistics including beds, oxygen cylinders, treatment kits and other medical equipment.
Apollo Hospitals have such tie-up arrangements with hotels like Lemon Tree and Ginger Hotels in other states, the statement added.
