Odisha meteorology’s forewarn for next five days in several districts

SunstarTV Bureau: The Regional Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar today issued Yellow Warning predicting thunderstorm activity in several coastal and adjoining interior districts of the state over next few days.

In a bulletin, the MeT centre said, “A cyclonic circulation lies over South Chhattisgarh and neighborhood and extends upto 1.5 km above mean sea level. Meteorological conditions are becoming favourable for thunderstorm activity in some districts of coastal and adjoining interior Odisha between March 27 and 29  and strong gusty surface winds over northwest Bay of Bengal off Odisha coast from March 29 to 31.”

However, there will be no significant change in maximum temperature during next three days. Thereafter it will increase and heat wave condition is likely in some districts of interior Odisha from  March 31, the MeT centre warned and  advised to take precautionary measures for hot weather while going outside during noontime ( between 11 AM – 3 PM)  in these areas.

Weather forecast and warning for next five days:

Day 1 (valid up to 8.30 AM of March 28 )

Yellow Warning:  Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada, Bhadrak, Koraput, Gajapati and Kandhamal.

Light to moderate rain is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Koraput, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada, Bhadrak, Khordha. Dry weather is very likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha

Day 2 (valid from 8.30 AM of March 28 up to 8.30 AM of March 29 )

Yellow Warning : Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph
is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur and Cuttack.

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of north coastal Odisha, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Khordha, Puri, Ganjam.
Dry weather is very likely to prevail over the rest districts of the state.

Day 3 (valid from 8.30 AM March 29 up to 8.30 AM of March 30)

Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Balasore
and Bhadrak.

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak and dry weather is very likely to prevail over the rest districts of the state.

Day 4 (valid from 8.30 AM of March 30 up to 8.30 AM of March 31)

Dry weather is very likely to prevail over the districts of Odisha.

Day 5 (valid from 8.30 AM of March 31 up to 8.30 AM of April 1)

Yellow Warning: Heat wave condition is likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balangir, Sonepur, Sambalpur, Angul, Boudh and Kalahandi.

Strong gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph is likely to prevail over north-west Bay of Bengal and along and off Odisha Coast, fishermen have been advised not to venture into sea along and off Odisha coast and north-west Bay of Bengal from March 29 to 31 the MeT further added.
