SunstarTV Bureau: Today, the State Women & Child Development Minister Tukuni Sahoo informed the house that as many as 1576 new Anganwadi centres will come up in Odisha, the new Anganwadi centres will be opened in tribal areas where people are facing acute malnutrition in Odisha,
There are 62,171 Anganwadi centres and 10,416 Mini Anganwadi centres in Odisha. The State Government had sent a proposal to the Centre to open 7,844 new Anganwadi centres. The former asked the State Government to resend the proposal after reviewing it. But,1576 new Anganwadi centres will be set up in areas overshadowed by emaciated people.
Informing the House, the Minister said that total Rs 7 lakh is earmarked for setting up one Anganwadi centre. While Centre’s share is Rs 5 lakh, the State Government bears Rs 2 lakh for Anganwadi centre. Moreover, the district collectors have been directed to form panel to identify lands in urban areas to open Anganwadi centres.
