Bhubaneswar (SunstarTV Bureau): The Odisha Police has launched a special mobile application scheme for faster police verification of applications, where getting a passport is expected to become easier.
The Odisha government’s 5T initiative, the State Police department has launched the M-Police mobile application scheme. As per official sources, the initiative is aimed at digitally connecting the police stations directly with the Passport Seva Kendra by which the Police Verification Report (PVR) of the passport applicants can be directly accessed by the officers at the police stations.
Besides, the verification can be done online on the go and submitted without any time lag, an official release of Odisha Police read.
In the first phase, the scheme has been introduced for 100 police stations on Monday. It will be extended to the remaining police stations by March 25.
Under the existing DPHQ (Dist Police Head Quarter) model, the PVRs of the passport applicants are sent to the concerned SP/DCP office from where it was redirected to concerned police stations after downloading them in the physical form.
The Introduction of the citizen-centric Police Mobile application scheme will ensure speedy and expeditious police verification of the passport applications by enabling last-mile connectivity with the police stations, the government claims.
Senior police officials said tablets are being provided to the 553 police stations of the State and those will be used by the Verification officers at the police stations.
